A semi hauling baby red potatoes caught on fire Thursday morning on Interstate 94 in Eau Claire County.

The driver was able to get the trailer unhitched from the semi, before the fire spread.

Law enforcement shut down the highway for about 30 minutes, while crews extinguished the flames.

Traffic was down to one lane for about six hours, while the potatoes were unloaded and the trailer removed.

No word from the Wisconsin State Patrol if they also picked up a lot of potatoes off the ground.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
