A cash bond was set Tuesday at $1.5 million for Trempealeau County murder suspect Todd Gieck.

The Melrose, Wis., man is accused of fatally shooting Kyle Dahl in Ettrick last month.

A new judge, Buffalo County’s Thomas Clark, has been assigned to the case, after Trempealeau County Judge Rian Radtke recused himself because the victim had worked with the county courts.

Investigators say the 61-year-old Gieck, now charged with reckless homicide, allegedly shot at Dahl on May 15, after becoming upset that Dahl was driving too slowly as he was passing on the street.

Gieck’s next court appearance is set for July 15.
