Supporters Have High Hopes for Veto Override
A veto override is a distinct possibility now. The assembly will vote next week to override governor Doyle’s veto of a bill that would have restored DNR secretary appointment power to the state’s natural resources board. Wisconsin Wildlife Federation’s George Meyer hopes the override succeeds. He says the current system of governor appointees has led to a series of DNR secretaries with very little wildlife managment experience.
The legislature hasn’t had a successful veto override since 1981.
