Four Guys, One River, One Night Downtown

You’d probably have fewer people falling in the Mississippi if fewer people would stumble drunkenly to the river. One La Crosse officer this week-end corralled not one, not two, but four guys dangerously inebriated, teetering and wandering in a somewhat disoriented fashion near Riverside park after a night downtown. Two of the guys heading in the wrong direction were more than happy to accept the cop’s offer of assistance and were glad to have her call a cab for them. Two of them, apparently, weren’t so happy to be knocked off their desired path to the water’s edge. One of them, after getting repeated chances to walk away peacefully, wound up getting busted for disorderly conduct.
