La Crosse Schools Won’t See Race to the Top Money
That’s a few million in extra cash from the feds that La Crosse likely won’t see. Word from the feds today is that Wisconsin’s application for 254 million dollars in federal money under the Race to the Top program has been denied. Doesn’t surprise La Crosse school board member Steve Kopp. He says, based on a number of factors, he didn’t think Wisconsin stood much of a chance of collecting the cash anyway. And figured the time the district spent on signing on to the application was a waste. Kopp and others on the board were resistant to being a part of the state’s Race to the Top application from the start. Wisconsin’s application stiill may be considered at a later date.
