One Veto Override Good, One on Hold

A veto override attempt by the city council is on hold for now. mayor Matt Harter had vetoed the hiring of a half time lawyer to work in the city attorney’s office. That veto was up for an override this week, but the city council has decided instead to put off the attempt for the next two months. The council has this week overturned a different veto of Harter’s. But it was a veto the mayor says he changed his mind on anyway. In an unusual move, the mayor essentially asked the city council to overturn his veto, which they did. Making it just the second time the mayor has suffered a veto override.
