Wood Trial In Monroe County Could Wait ‘Til Fall

Published

on

TOMORROW IS THE DAY WHEN ASSEMBLYMAN JEFF WOOD IS SCHEDULED TO FACE A LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE THAT COULD DECIDE TO EXPEL HIM.

MEANWHILE, WOOD IS EXPECTED TO ENTER A PLEA ON AN O-W-I CHARGE NEXT MONTH IN PORTAGE. A SIMILAR CHARGE IN MONROE COUNTY MIGHT NOT LEAD TO A TRIAL UNTIL FALL, ACCORDING TO D-A DAN CARY IN SPARTA. THAT’S BECAUSE OF DELAYS AT THE STATE LAB WHICH IS TESTING WOOD’S BLOOD SAMPLES FOR ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.  APRIL WILL MARK SIX MONTHS SINCE WOOD WAS ARRESTED IN TOMAH. THAT WAS HIS THIRD O-W-I CHARGE IN LESS THAN A YEAR.
