Retiring La Crosse Mayor Says City Is ‘In A Better Place’ Than 4 Yrs Ago
Is La Crosse’s mayor happy that his four-year term is just about over?
Mayor Matt Harter tells WIZM’s Mike Hayes that he’ll be happy to “move on to new things” when his term expires next month. Harter says the city has cut taxes all four years, while maintaining a high level of government services. Harter says that was accomplished by people working together, although he and the city council have disagreed on several issues. The mayor announced last fall that he would not run in next Tuesday’s election. He says his most memorable moment as mayor was the night he took the oath of office in 2009.
