City May Dip Into Reserves for Capital Improvements

The idea of scarcity at budget time is nothing new in La Crosse.  City council finance committee chair, Audrey Kader says, by now, department heads are well versed in the game of capital budget requests

The situation for everyone in city hall is a little tighter next year as the city prepares to pay millions of dollars for a new radio system.  That will leave about a million dollars of borrowing room overall for capital projects.  Kader says she’s not opposed to using some of the city’s large reserve fund to fill holes.
