More Cops Wanted For Neighborhood Watch Duty In Lax

Can the La Crosse Police Department assign more officers to work the neighborhoods?

It would be tough to do right now, according to Police Chief Ron Tischer. The chief tells the city’s neighborhood revitalization commission that there are neighborhood watch programs in place now, but he says most officers are needed to handle drug and gang investigations. Tischer says other law enforcement agencies in the area might be asked to help coordinate better neighborhood enforcement.
