Job Retention Not a Requirement for Chart Agreement
A development agreement between the city of La Crosse and a large employer will be a little lighter when it comes to job requirements. The city council finance committee has agreed to a an expansion deal with Chart on the southside involving a new TIF district, a big facility expansion and a hundred new jobs. But the city will drop a job retention clause that was in the original agreement
Mayor Tim Kabat. Kabat says because Chart is in such a volatile industry, a job retention arrangement didn’t make sense. The agreement with Chart still needs final approval from the full city council next week.
