National Night Out Comes As Lax Police Are Asked To Hire More Cops

Does a rise in local crime mean La Crosse police will be adding more officers?

The city council is expected to be asked to hire extra cops, specifically to help keep peace in neighborhoods. City police chief Ron Tischer says officers would like to spend more time in neighborhoods, but there are too many crime calls coming in.

 

The La Crosse police department encourages a greater officer presence in neighborhoods. It’s supporting the annual National Night Out block parties Tuesday night in almost a dozen locations around La Crosse.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
