West Salem Board Bends to Parents’ Fears, Lowers Speed Limit

Some speed limits are pretty low.  Some are really low.  Like the new 15 mile per hour speed limit just posted on Lewis street in West Salem.  Put there because of ongoing fears about speeding cars and children playing in the street.  We’re told nearly 50 kids live on Lewis and routinely use the street as a playground.  After lots of conflicts and a special committee meeting, the village board has opted to pass on speed bumps and stop signs and will try to slow things down with the 15 mile per hour limit.
