More Compliance Checks Done
In La Crosse County, law enforcement agencies conducted alcohol
compliance checks in June and July, focusing on graduation and summer, a time when underage drinking peaks. There were 53 visits conducted this time around, with nine illegal sales found. That’s 17% vs. 10% of establishments who sold to minors as compared to the April and May checks. Al Bliss, County Health Educator, says these numbers will be watched for the next few years.
Fines and liquor licence suspensions can happen with violations. But Bliss says the La Crosse County Prevention Network also has a recognition program designed to reward and recognize the clerks who do not sell alcohol to minors.
