Three months after being placed on leave by the Onalaska School District, a band director is being reinstated in time for the new school year.

Winona County filed seven charges this year against Sandy Kauphusman, after she reportedly threatened to kill her husband at their Winona home. The charges included assault with a wooden plank and a knife, and making terroristic threats, but six of the charges were dismissed in a plea agreement last month. Kauphusman pled guilty to domestic assault, and is on probation for a year. The Onalaska district is now returning Kauphusman to her job teaching band at the Onalaska middle school.
