Several Hurt In Milk Truck Crash
A crash involving a milk truck around 7:30 this morning north of Westby
injured several people. It all happened when 18 year old Justin Zierfus of rural Westby failed to yield after pulling from a stop sign to cross State Highway 27 and drove into the path of 55 year old Norman Hemmersbach’s loaded milk truck. A head on collision resulted with an incoming car driven by 45 year old David Lorenz of Chippewa Falls.
Injured in the crash, 36 year old Robert Sutton was airlifted to Gunderson Health Systems for head and back injuries. Lorenz and Zierfus were transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital. Lorenz sustained a substantial foot injury. Zierfus sustained minor injuries. Hemmersbach was taken Gunderson Heath System by private vehicle to be checked out.
The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.
