Board Votes to Delay Parade Permit Policy

Crosse’s public works board has turned down a proposal to have people buy permits to reserve spots in certain areas along this year’s Oktoberfest Maple Leaf parade route.  That policy, however, will go into effect next year.  The board decided there simply wasn’t enough time to make certain people who were planning to set up along the route would hear about the changes.  At the same time, the board voted to make certain current rules about settling in along the highway 35 right-of-way would be fully enforced during the upcoming fest.
