Shilling Watches Voucher Schools

Governor Scott Walker’s newly expanded statewide voucher program begins

today. Under some watchful eyes in Madison. Senator Jennifer Shilling says she knows the rules laid down by the Governor for voucher schools, but she also has a checklist of changes that need to be made.

Shilling says private voucher schools are not required to hire licensed teachers, are not required to conduct background checks of all staff, are not subject to open record laws. Just the beginning of changes she says need to be made.
