Missing Man Found Dead Near Gillette Street

The search for an endangered man in La Crosse leads to his body…

At least three boats were brought to a landing on the La Crosse River today, before rescue crews discovered the body of 34-year-old Matthew Stewart. A search for Stewart in the Gillette Street area began this morning, and concluded a few hours later. Police are still investigating Stewart’s disappearance, and are awaiting results of an autopsy.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk."
