South Branch Of La Crosse Library Targeted For Closing

Three branches may be one too many these days for the La Crosse Public Library…

The library board is ready to shut down the South Branch on 16th Street next year, in a cost-cutting move. James Cherf sits on both the city council and the library board. He says in the past, the library has been able to find money aside from tax dollars to maintain an endowment.  But Cherf says the library has reached the point where it doesn’t have the funding to keep all of its programs going.

 

 

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
