After spending two years in county jail for hiding the body of a drug overdose victim, Cain Moss says he’s ready for a second chance at life.

But first, Moss will have to serve five more years in a state prison. The 27-year-old La Crosse man was sentenced today for giving drugs to Anthony DuCharme, and for dumping DuCharme’s body after he died suddenly in the summer of 2011. Judge Todd Bjerke says prison doesn’t necessarily deter people who have been addicted to drugs.

DuCharme’s relatives asked for a longer prison sentence for Moss, and Moss’s own relatives said that his actions have dishonored the family name.
