Medicaid Funding Grows, Enrollment Decreases
While tens of thousands of people are getting kicked off of Medicaid in Wisconsin, the cost of the program is still increasing in the state. That’s from a new analysis by the nonpartisan Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. Although Medicaid is largely paid for using federal dollars, state general fund support for the low income health program is projected to grow 8.7 % per year over the next two years. Meanwhile, school funding will increase by juste over two percent and aid to local governments around a half percent per year. The state has informed 92 thousand people in the state that they will be dropped from Medicaid in order to move to the private marketplace through the new Obamacare health exchange.
