Huge Pot Farm Bust

GRANTSBURG, Wis. (AP) Burnett County sheriff’s officials say hunters have uncovered a sophisticated marijuana farm with nearly 3,300 plants.

Chief Deputy Scott Burns says the farm had an extensive irrigation system and man-made holding ponds with a network of tubing that supplied water to every plant. Burns says the growers had the plants spaced out in the brush and trees so it was more difficult to spot from the air.

No suspects were found, but a small camp with some abandoned equipment was found. Burns says deputies will investigate whether the operation is connected to another large farm found in neighboring Pine County, Minn., this summer. More than 5,000 marijuana plants were discovered in that bust, which is about 40 miles away.
