As the first of Wisconsin’s six wolf hunting zones closes down for the season, the DNR admits some ignorance as to why the harvest is going so quickly.  Zone 2 in the northeast part of the state closes this afternoon at three.  In a statement released about the closing, the DNR’s Land Division Administrator indicates it’s difficult to say why wolves are getting gunned down at such a fast clip.  Wolf harvest limit is set at 251.  110 have been killed already.  Wolf season opened just eight days ago.
