Turf Time For Loggers

Last week, we told you about preparations for a new artificial playing

surface at the Lumberyard field in La Crosse’s Copeland Park. Astroturf is being installed over a bed of gravel.  Sales rep Ted Monken from Astroturf admits that the brand got a negative reputation a few years after it was introduced, but the company improved the product:

Monken says the turf can drain up to nine inches of rain in an hour, and sunlight can help warm the turf to melt small amounts of snow on the surface.
