No Trapping Muskrats In Onalaska…For Now

Some critter comfort in Onalaska…

 

The city’s park board is denying a request to trap muskrats in a conservancy area near Highway 53. A citizen asked the park department for permission to set traps in retention ponds at the Greens Coulee Park. Alderman Erik Sjolander tells us the park board could not find evidence that muskrats are creating a nuisance in that area. Outdoor experts say the price of muskrat pelts has increased sharply in the Midwest over the last two years.
