Poage Relative to Visit La Crosse
Larry Jenkins says he’s never been much of an athlete. But he is related to one. Jenkins, who lives in the nation’s capitol, is the great grand nephew of George Poage, who graduated from high school in La Crosse and was America’s first black Olympic medalist. Just recently, Jenkins learned of La Crosse’s efforts to honor Poage by naming a park after him
Jenkins says he’ll travel to La Crosse for the city’s dedication of Poage park. Plans are currently underway for a major renovation at the park.
