Redistricting Ideas Suddenly Drawing Interest
If hundreds of people showing up at a forum in STevens Point this week is any measure, there would appear to be a growing interest in how legislative districts are drawn in Wisconsin. Common Cause held the forum on redistricting. None are more surprised at turnout for the event than the group’s state director, Jay Heck
But Heck says public pressure is beginning to push Madison lawmakers into at least considering a proposal that would hand the once-a-decade redistricting process over to a non-partisan panel of judges instead of allowing whichever party is in charge handle the task.
