Monroe County D.A. Dies

Dan Cary, Monroe County’s District Attorney, has died. Cary passed away at his home in Sparta. The death is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.

Cary started as Monroe County’s Assistant D.A. in 1997 and had been the District Attorney since 2003. He specialized in prosecuting felony drug, sexual assault, child abuse and homicide cases.

Cary was recently named the 2012 State District Attorney of the year for his work.
