Pump House Will Host Pugh Mural

They’ve considered a bunch of sites for a giant painting and have settled on just one.  La Crosse Arts board director Don Smith tells the city’s public works board that a mural paid for in part with a federal grant will likely go on the west wall of the Pump House in downtown La Crosse.  He says, while 14 sites were considered in the city, the historic Pump House is really the only one that’s suitable for the giant mural to be painted by artist John Pugh.  The wall still needs to be tested to make certain.  And prep would begin next May with the painting likely done by the end of the summer.  The city is getting a 25 thousand dollar grant for the mural.  The rest of the project is getting funded with a mixture of local tax dollars and private fundraising.
