Petty Gets 7 Years For Accidentally Shooting Man In Neck

Last March, a gun accidentally went off in a La Crosse apartment, and a bullet passed through the neck of a man standing nearby.

Miraculously, that man was not seriously hurt. But there’s no such miracle for the other man who was playing around with the gun. William Petty of La Crosse is headed to prison for seven years, for reckless use of a weapon he wasn’t supposed to be handling…because of a previous conviction.

 

Petty denied the claim of a police detective that he moved from Milwaukee to La Crosse to sell drugs, with the intent of ‘running this town.’
