Judge Will Get Same Salary, Lose Benefits
Very little appetite among La Crosse city council members to bump the pay of the municipal judge. The council, in a preliminary vote on Tuesday, agree to keep the salary at the position at its current level. Mayor Tim Kabat had hoped to raise the pay of the job to 45 thousand dollars from 37 thousand to make up in part for health insurance benefits getting cut from the part time judge’s pay package. The health insurance benefits not available, apparently, for any part time employees in the city because of changes from the Affordable Care Act.
