City Taxes Inch Up for 2014

No tax freeze for La Crosse city taxpayers after all.  The city council votes on Tuesday night for a slight tax increase instead of mayor Tim Kabat’s plan to keep the property tax rate at current levels for another year.  The right thing to do, says city council member Bob Seaquist

The two pennies per thousand dollars increase will mean just a few dollars increase for the average homeowner for next year.  Some council members had hoped to make up the difference with a raid on reserve funds.
