Get Rid Of The Drugs
Those who deal with drug addiction in the La Crosse area wouldn’t mind if
there were fewer drugs on the street. Especially the ones from the medicine cabinet. But without a place locally available to daily dump leftover painkillers, it’s kind of tough to get rid of drugs like Vicodin and Oxycodone, says Keith Lease with Coulee Council on Addictions
Lease says those easily accessible narcotic prescriptions are largely responsible for the area’s heroin epidemic. But federal laws won’t allow returning them to hospitals or pharmacies. And most police departments won’t take them outside of occasional DEA drug take back days like the one held locally last month.
