Failing Sound and Voting System Due for Replacement
At one time, a voting and sound system replacement in La Crosse city council chambers was hailed as a movement towards sustainability. That’s because the system, which cost tens of thousands of dollars just a few years ago, saved 50% on energy costs over what it replaced. But that was before the system began to fail in a variety of ways. Now, the city says, the prized measure of sustainability is broken beyond fixing. No parts available. A new one is needed. The city council will decide next month on whether to spend up to 125 thousand dollars on a replacement.
