Ash Trees Coming Down
La Crosse’s park department expects to be busy in 2014 with more treatment or
removal of ash trees around the city. The emerald ash borer is making its way to the far ends of La Crosse. As a result, the city is informing ash owners about steps that can be taken to save their trees, or prevent others from becoming diseased. Forestry coordinator Cindy Johnson says staffers will be going around to different neighborhoods:
About 30 trees were removed this year. The ash borer’s presence in the city was confirmed around Halloween of last year.
