Common Core Conversations Continue

A Republican led state Assembly committee recommended this week that the

Legislature establish a process to review Common Core academic standards in place in Wisconsin, ignoring pressure from tea party conservatives to immediately scrap the standards. The La Crosse School District’s Troy Harcey says even as those discussions continue, the district has already enacted some standards.

Governor Scott Walker reiterated his support for Wisconsin crafting its own unique standards. He did not say whether he would support replacing the Common Core standards, which schools have spent $25 million to adopt, or building off of those.
