Common Core Public Hearings Coming
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is holding public hearings
from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, in Ashland, La Crosse and Milwaukee to collect comments and counter criticism that it approved and adopted Common Core State Standards in 2010 without public input. So what excactly is Common Core?
La Crosse School District’s Troy Harcey. The new standards, not to be confused with a federally mandated curriculum, cover math and English and promote literacy in history and social studies, science and technical subjects for students from kindergarten through high school.
