Miller, Coleman Recognized With MLK Awards

You’ve heard the expression ‘it takes a village’ to raise a child…

A La Crosse educator and mentor to local young people is challenging community members to help kids outside their own homes. City Council member Dempsey Miller the 3rd received a Martin Luther King Leadership Award at Viterbo last night…and spoke about some of the values that his parents emphasized while raising him.

 

Miller was honored along with a second award recipient for 2014…Bill Coleman, a pioneering African-American teacher in the La Crosse School District.

 

 

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
