Parking Prob’s In La Crosse
For years, the city of La Crosse has been trapped in a Catch-22 situation
when it comes to downtown parking. Drivers complain that there aren’t enough parking spaces, so the city builds ramps. But many people won’t use a ramp, because it’s too far from where they need to go. Another strike against ramps…downtown business owners argue that the ramps are too dirty and unsafe. Several business people spoke to the city parking board on Wednesday, urging City Hall to keep parking costs at a minimum. Meanwhile, board members are seeking more direction from those businesses about grace periods and hourly rates, before turning on the ticket gates that have been installed in the ramps.
