DNR; Winter to Impact Deer Herd
The Wisconsin DNR is already warning about a smaller deer harvest next fall. The brutal winter is to blame, says big game ecologist Kevin Wallenfang
Wallenfang says, if the harsh cold and snowy weather ends early in spring, the impact on deer herd numbers might not be that severe. But he’s already planning for several zones to have buck-only permits next fall due to anticipated low numbers.
