Nygren Talks Heroin In La Crosse
A heroin task force in La Crosse County has called upon experts from
around Wisconsin to share information about the growing problem of heroin addiction. For this week’s meeting, the task force brought in Assemblyman John Nygren, who’s sponsoring a series of anti-heroin bills in the legislature. Nygren says Wisconsin may soon become the 15th state to eliminate certain penalties for people who call 9-1-1 to report a heroin overdose:
Nygren also is promoting the idea of letting firemen throughout the state carry the antidote Narcan when they respond to drug overdose calls. Narcan saved the life of his daughter five years ago, after she OD’d on heroin.
