Federal Suit Against Town of Campbell Moves Forward
Could be a little more pressure for the town of Campbell to dump a controversial sign ordinance. An ordinance adopted last year prohibits any kind of sign or banner from the pedestrian overpass on French Island. The town’s police department has enforced the ordinance with tickets. Two of those ticketed, Greg Luce and Nicholas Newman, are plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit which alleges that the hastily adopted ordinance violates free speech rights. The lawsuit is filed by the Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
