Ownership of Land for Tracks Discussed
Who owns land that the railroad wants? La Crosse’s public works board will tackle that question again today. Burlington Northern wants to complete a second set of tracks from its northside yard to State Road. But county records show the Forest Hills golf course property that the rail company wants to build on is owned by the city. And mayor Tim Kabat says that’s pretty definitive
The city will hire a service to do a title search on the property in question. Kabat’s unsure whether the dispute will impact when Burlington Northern begins the track project.
