Snow Piles Help La Crosse Police Snag Drunks

Who needs sobriety checkpoints when you have snowbanks?  Police sobriety stops are illegal in Wiscosnin but are used to great impact in many other states for collaring drunks on the road.  In La Crosse, cops this week-end unwittingly used snow to snag three of the many drunk drivers arrested this week-end.  Among the snow-snagged drunks is the guy who wound up in a mound of snow in someone’s yard near city hall and the young woman who got hammered downtown and plowed into some snow on the northside, got stuck and then claimed somebody else was doing the driving even though she was the one police found behind the wheel.
