Onalaska 4th Of July Celebration Moves Ahead Without Symphony
Onalaska will still celebrate the 4th of July with music and fireworks this summer…but not exactly in the same way as usual.
The city traditionally stages its fireworks on the weekend before the 4th, after an outdoor concert by the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. But this year, the Symphony has withdrawn from the program because of a lack of funding. Kelly Poppele from Festival Foods, which organizes the celebration, says a different musical act has been hired for the June 28th program. The name of the act will be announced in about a month.
