Their Mission: Rehearse A Musical And Perform It In Just 24 Hours

Twenty four hours, one musical, infinite fun…

That’s the slogan for a stage experiment happening this weekend at La Crescent High School. It’s called the ’24 hour musical,’ because a cast and crew will spend 24 hours straight rehearsing a full musical before performing it for an audience. That’s not much time to memorize lines and songs, but choreographer Jon Lamb says they’ll work around that challenge, perhaps by finding ways to hide the scripts on stage.

The show will be either ‘Godspell’ or ‘All Shook Up,’ which is based on Elvis Presley songs. The Appleseed Community Theatre chose the winning musical months ago, but will not reveal which show is being done until tomorrow night.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
