Library Task Force Meets
It was a September surprise for many library users in La Crosse last year,
when they heard of plans to shut down the South Branch library to save tax money.
Public protests led to a reversal of the closing recommendation…and that action led to the formation of a new library task force. The committee met last week for the first time, and chose its leaders.
That’s Kelly Krieg-Sigman, the city library director. Sullivan was a leader of the campaign to prevent the closing of the south branch. Service cuts and a withdrawal from a reserve fund have helped keep the branch running for 2014.
