Hixon Forest Trails Closed

Starting today, the city of La Crosse has closed the hiking trails in Hixon Forest.  At least for the duration of the spring thaw.  The city says the closure is necessary to prevent trail damage during the thaw which can lead to erosion.  The closure is weather dependent and the city has no set time for the trails to open up again.  Typically, the trails close every year at this time to preserve trail integrity.  The city has also closed them during periods of heavy summer rain.
