UW-L #1 For Campus Alcohol Arrests
When it comes to campus arrests for alcohol in 2012, UW-La Crosse came in
first place, replacing its sister school, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which held the top slot the previous year. That according to numbers from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education. But UW-L Chancellor, Joe Gow says it’s not because the campus has a drinking problem.
Rehabs dot com notes the fact that a school had more arrests does not necessarily mean there were more arrest worthy incidents on its campus. And Scott Rohde, chief of police at UW-La Crosse, agrees. Rohde believes there’s a link between the kind of policing done at the University of Wisconsin and the presence of a number of UW schools on the list. 9 UW System schools appear in the top 50.
